The Find: A Home in the Mountains for the Einum-Danieu Family

By March 7, 2021March 9th, 2021Meet Your Neighbors, Moving to Salt Lake

The Einum-Danieu family was looking for a place in the mountains after living twelve years in Flagstaff, Arizona. They also wanted a neighborhood where they could put down roots and be part of a community. The find: the perfect mountain home situated in the Pinebrook neighborhood of Park City. It’s the family-friendly neighborhood with lots of kids they were hoping for with the benefit of being a step away from the slopes.

MOUNTAINS & MIDWEST HOSPITALITY

Having lived in Salt Lake City on and off over the last 20 years, David & Pierrette knew they wanted to be near the trails and slopes for biking, hiking and snowboarding. But with a young son in tow, they also wanted to make sure there were good schools and lots of kids around. They wanted to avoid any kind of retirement or resort-home areas.

COVID CLOSURES & DISTANCE SEARCHING

With COVID raging, and having full-time commitments in Flagstaff, Arizona, most of the search process with David & Pierrette was conducted online and via video or Facetime. We had an initial in-person whirlwind weekend tour at the end of October, where we looked at the Yalecrest, Holladay, Millcreek and Park City neighborhoods. After that, it was Facetime, Zoom and phone calls to tour properties and talk through issues. It all moved faster than usual with Salt Lake’s tremendously competitive real estate market delayed from COVID and in full swing.

FIRST OFFER RESCINDED

David and Pierrette made an offer on a home in Holladay and it was accepted about three weeks after our first weekend tour-de-force. Once due diligence was complete, it was apparent that the seller would need to accommodate some serious home inspection concerns. In the end, David and Pierrette chose to walk away from the contract and the home search began again, and with some urgency. They were on the countdown for moving to Utah before the year was over!

SECOND TIME’S THE CHARM

Lucky for David and Pierrette, a home in the Pinebrook neighborhood of Park City hit the market at the same time their initial contract dissolved. At first, they were concerned that the resort-culture reputation of Park City didn’t fit the family-friendly community they were hoping for. But it became clear very quickly that the Pinebrook neighborhood ticked all the boxes as far as home size, proximity to mountains, schools, friendliness and to boot, plenty of kids buzzing around.

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

As soon as David & Pierrette knew this was the home for them, we wrote up a contract, and quickly. No time to waste with homes flying off the market as fast as they are in Salt Lake City. The contract was accepted on November 20th and David and Pierrette closed on December 20th. They moved from Flagstaff and had their tree up just in for Christmas. A perfect home for the holidays! It’s a place that David & Pierrette can watch their son run around the front yard with the neighborhood kids and still be a step away from the slopes.
