Welcome to Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Front! Our completely biased opinion is that we are one of the best mid-sized metropolitan areas in the country and you will love moving here.
Outdoor enthusiasts can find unparallelled access to year-round sports, including biking and skiing in some of the country’s best terrain. Outside Magazine chose the Wasatch Front as one of the, “5 Best Places to Raise Outdoor Kids,” and has called it one of the, “Best Outdoor Towns in America.”
Our metropolitan area hosts a vibrant arts and nightlife scene, including two professional dance companies, a new Broadway-style theater, several renowned local theater companies, a world-traveled symphony, and a long list of bars, clubs and live-music venues that, yes, will serve you alcohol (see nightlife recommendations).
As for families, the city can’t be beat! We have award-winning private and public schools, a strong network of community recreation facilities, beautiful parks and top-notch libraries, more soccer, ski, dance, martial arts, theater and art clubs than you can shake a stick at, plus access to some of the nation’s top hospitals and healthcare facilities.
Chances are you’ve probably heard rumblings about some of our area’s stranger quirks: funny liquor laws, a storied Mormon past (and present, depending on who you ask), earthquakes, and some of the worst air pollution in the nation. We plan to explore some of these serious (and funny) concerns in our series The Elephant in the City .
We admit, our city does have some idiosyncrasies; but you’ll find them anywhere you live. Our opinion is that the upsides of living along the Wasatch Front far outweigh the down. To aid you in your move, we’ve put together a few resources that you may find helpful. We are always happy to talk to anyone moving here, regardless of if we’re their agent or not.
