A Lifetime of Living Well

Inspired by the beautiful belongings of her clients, Kayley Danielson used her thoughtful approach to articulate the unique style of an adventurous retired couple through interior design. The homeowners’ impressive collections of art, furniture, and antiques–which they’ve gathered during decades of globetrotting–are now showcased with the honor they deserve.

Telling Their Story

After twenty years, the home’s original kitchen was ready for a breath of fresh air. Kayley took the opportunity to give the space more personality and depth with cabinets in School Blazer Blue, black granite countertops, and sophisticated hammered copper lights.

The most remarkable of their collections consists of antique glass goblets, gathered from around the world. Each goblet has its own story—a market in Europe, a small-town antique shop, a family dinner. Yes, they let their grandchildren use the goblets on a regular basis. Rather than tucking the treasured glassware away, Kayley designed a custom kitchen display to show it off. Soft, layered lighting and warm finishes highlight the goblets’ colors and shapes.

Comfort and Longevity

In the primary suite, the focus shifted from collections to comfort and longevity. The cramped water closet and oversized jetted tub were eliminated to make space for a generous walk-in shower, complete with grab bars and a wide entry for accessibility. The palette is rich and cozy, with textures and tones that feel timeless rather than trendy—a space designed for real life and graceful aging.

Designing Beyond Trends

For this couple, the result is a home that feels true to them and provides them with the comfort they need for this time in their lives.

“Our renovation project changed how we feel about our home, making it both beautiful and more functional. Niche Homes Studio created a collaborative, fun, and smooth process which ultimately was very rewarding. I loved the sense that our designers were really listening to our ideas.”
