A big thanks to everyone who came out last Friday to support our second-annual Laird Park movie night! There was a tremendous amount of anticipation after last year’s stellar turnout. The weather cooperated beautifully after intermittent cloud bursts kept us crossing our fingers all day. At sunset, as planned, we rolled Disney’s live-action remake of, “Beauty and the Beast.”
Not only did the weather hold, but the temperature was absolutely perfect. Children played tag and flies up around the outskirts of the field. Toddlers took sandbox and slide breaks during the show. The mood was celebratory and jackets and blankets were taken on and off multiple times during the course of the night.
It definitely felt like a party! Which is exactly what we had hoped for. Bottles of water and popcorn flew off the tables faster than we could say, “Tale as Old As Time.” Mason Thomas, Jonas Scheil and Will Snow sold cotton candy for their Eagle Project supporting Project Homeless Connect. (Project Homeless Connect will be taking place at the Salt Palace on October 6th, 2017, and will be providing dental care, haircuts, hygiene kits and socks and underwear to over 600 homeless people in Salt Lake.)
It was a magical evening filled with neighbors, friends, talking clocks and magical teacups! If we missed you this year, we hope to see you again next year. We are already planning! And if it is hard to think that far ahead (which is true of most of us), aim to join us at next month’s Laird Park Halloween Parade. It should be a ghoulishly fun time!
Looking to host your own movie night? We can’t say enough good things about Tim Clawson from Utah Backyard Cinema.
